Important Safety Notice for Keychains/Key Fobs in accordance with Regulation (EU) 2023/988 on General Product Safety (GPSR)
This is a targeted safety notice for the proper and safe use of keychains and key fobs. Since they may contain small parts, sharp edges, cords, strong magnets, or electronics (LEDs, button batteries), please follow the instructions below to prevent injuries and damage.
Basic Safety and Handling Principles
- Keep out of reach of children: There is a risk of swallowing small parts and strangulation by cords. The product is not a toy.
- Sharp and heavy parts: Check edges, joints, and carabiners; do not use a damaged keychain.
- Magnetic components: Keep strong magnets away from payment cards and sensitive electronics; persons with pacemakers or ICDs should maintain a safe distance.
- Electronics and batteries: If the product contains button batteries, keep them inaccessible to children and seek urgent medical help immediately if ingestion is suspected.
Proper and Safe Use
- Use as intended: Designed for hanging keys or as decoration on bags/clothing according to the product description.
- Improper use: Do not wear during sports, sleep, machine work, or in situations with increased risk of entanglement; do not place on vehicle rearview mirrors where it may obstruct vision.
- Secure attachment: Regularly check rings, chains, and carabiners; do not carry excessively heavy key bundles in locks or vehicle ignitions.
Cleaning, Maintenance, and Storage
- Cleaning: Clean with a soft dry or slightly damp cloth according to the material; avoid aggressive cleaners that may damage the surface.
- Maintenance: Tighten loose screws and connectors; replace damaged parts. Prevent prolonged dampness on leather and textile parts.
- Storage: Store in a dry place away from extreme temperatures and direct sunlight; keep magnetic keychains separate.
Specific Health Warnings
- Allergies and sensitive skin: Some metals (e.g., nickel) and surface coatings may cause reactions; discontinue use if irritation occurs.
Disposal
- Safe disposal: Sort metal parts for metal recycling; dispose of plastic and textile parts according to local regulations. Return batteries to collection points.
Incidents and Contact
- In case of an incident (injury, allergic reaction, ingestion of parts), stop using the product immediately and seek medical help if necessary. Keep the product and proof of purchase for complaint handling.
