Important safety notice for make-up (decorative cosmetics) in accordance with Regulation (EU) 2023/988 on general product safety (GPSR)

This is a targeted safety notice for the correct and safe use of make-up (decorative cosmetics). Due to possible skin sensitivity, contact with eyes and mucous membranes, the presence of fragrances and preservatives, it is essential to follow the instructions below to avoid irritation, allergic reactions, and harm. This notice is issued based on the requirements of the Regulation of the European Parliament and of the Council (EU) 2023/988 on general product safety.

Basic safety and handling principles

• Keep out of reach of children: The product is not a toy; there is a risk of ingestion or contact with eyes.
• Patch test: Before first use, perform a tolerance test on a small area of skin. If redness, itching, or burning occurs, discontinue use.
• Contact with eyes and mucous membranes: Avoid direct contact with eyes; if contact occurs, rinse immediately with water. Do not use on damaged or irritated skin.
• Hygiene: Apply with clean hands and clean applicators; regularly clean brushes and sponges. Do not share cosmetics with others.
• Follow manufacturer’s instructions: Respect the method of application, exposure time, and warnings on the packaging (including the PAO symbol and minimum durability date).

Correct and safe use

• Use as intended: Use only on designated areas (e.g., eye products only around the eyes, lip products only on lips).
• Sensitive groups: During pregnancy, breastfeeding, or skin conditions, consult the use of specific ingredients according to the manufacturer’s instructions.
• Flammability: Some products (spray lacquers, alcohol-based products) are flammable – do not use near open flames or heat sources.
• Removal: Always thoroughly remove make-up before sleeping with a suitable remover; residues can cause irritation or clog pores.
• Eye accessories: Use eyelash glue and glitters carefully; avoid getting them into the eyes and observe drying times according to instructions.

Cleaning, maintenance, and storage

• Storage: Store in a dry and cool place, away from direct sunlight and heat; tightly close containers after use.
• Packaging hygiene: Apply cream products with a spatula; avoid inserting fingers into jars to reduce contamination risk.
• Product replacement: Discard the product after the period after opening (PAO) expires or if there is a change in color, smell, or consistency.

Specific health warnings

• Allergies and sensitive skin: Fragrances, preservatives, and dyes may cause reactions; if symptoms occur, stop using the product immediately and consult a doctor if necessary.
• Contact lenses: Apply eye products before inserting lenses or according to instructions; remove lenses if irritation occurs.

Disposal

• Safe disposal: Sort empty packaging according to local regulations; dispose of aerosols and sprays in accordance with instructions for pressurized containers. Do not pour cosmetic residues into waste or sewage.

Incidents and contact

• In case of an incident (allergic reaction, skin damage, eye contact), stop using the product immediately and seek medical help if needed. Keep the product and proof of purchase for complaint handling.
