Important safety notice for tracksuits in accordance with Regulation (EU) 2023/988 on general product safety (GPSR)

This is a targeted safety notice for the correct and safe use of tracksuits (cotton, fleece, viscose, polyester, and blends; zip-up/pullover sweatshirts, with/without hood, pants with elastic waistband and drawstring, with prints, patches, zippers, reflective elements). Since they may contain drawstrings and small parts, zippers, metal/magnetic components, be flammable, and restrict movement or circulation if the size is incorrect, please follow the instructions below.

Basic safety and handling principles

  • Keep out of reach of small children: Drawstring ends, zipper pulls, snaps, and decorations pose a choking/inhalation hazard; the product is not a toy.
  • Check before use: Inspect seams, zippers, drawstrings, elastic cuffs, and prints; do not use if damaged, torn, or peeling.
  • Fire and heat: Most textiles are flammable; avoid open flames, sparks, and hot surfaces.
  • Drawstrings and tightening: Shorten or secure long loose drawstrings at waist/hood; loose neck drawstrings on children are not recommended (risk of catching/strangulation).
  • Magnetic/metal parts: Keep away from payment cards and sensitive electronics; follow staff instructions during security checks/MRI.

Proper and safe use

  • Correct size and fit: The suit should allow free movement without excessive friction; cuffs and waistband must not press too tightly or slip down.
  • Activities and catching hazards: Avoid long loose drawstrings and overly wide pants during sports, cycling, or on escalators; zippers can cause injury in falls.
  • Visibility: Use reflective elements or accessories when moving in the dark; dark colors reduce visibility.
  • Purpose: Tracksuits are not personal protective workwear (PPE); they do not protect against chemical, cutting, or thermal hazards.
  • Ventilation and thermal comfort: Adjust layering and ventilation (unzipping) during intense activity to prevent overheating.

Cleaning, maintenance, and storage

  • Wash according to label: Follow recommended temperature and cycle; excessive heat causes shrinkage, fading, and elastane damage.
  • Colors and prints: Wash inside out and with similar colors; harsh cleaners and bleaches may damage prints and patches.
  • Drying and ironing: Dry at room temperature away from direct sunlight; do not iron prints directly, iron inside out according to fiber type.
  • Zippers and metal parts: Close before washing; after contact with salt water/sweat, wipe dry to prevent corrosion and fabric staining.
  • Storage: Store in a dry, dark place; avoid long-term compression of hoods and padding (deformation), and damp environments (mold, odor).

Specific health warnings

  • Allergies and sensitive skin: Dyed textiles, latex in elastic bands, and metal (e.g., nickel in accessories) may cause reactions; choose hypoallergenic alternatives if redness or itching occurs.
  • Pressure and chafing: Tight cuffs/waistbands and rough seams may cause pressure marks; adjust size or material choice.
  • Moisture and dermatitis: Prolonged wearing of damp clothing increases irritation risk; change into dry clothes after sweating.

Disposal

  • Sorted waste and textile collection: Hand over clean and wearable items for reuse; recycle damaged textiles according to local regulations. Separate metal/magnetic parts if possible.

Incidents and contact

  • In case of an incident (drawstring catching, skin reaction, fall caused by clothing), stop using the product immediately. Keep the product and proof of purchase for complaint handling.
